Welcome Chris - Ranger and bird lover

Welcome Chris - Ranger and bird lover

Posted: 08 September 2020

Here at Parklands we are delighted to welcome some young blood to the team, with Ranger Chris Allen coming on board to help us get through the busy spring season.

Chris is revelling in the joys of life as a Ranger - working with nature, in some of the best bush parks in the region, as spring unfolds. In just one day while woody weeding at Red Light Hill, here are the many birds that Chris identified:

  • Australian Magpie
  • Mudlark
  • Eastern Rosella
  • Crimson Rosella
  • White-winged Chough
  • Red Wattlebird
  • Pied Currawong
  • Grey Butcherbird
  • Rainbow Lorikeet
  • Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike
  • Grey Fantail
  • Willie Wagtail
  • Rufous Whistler
  • Noisy Miner
  • Noisy Friarbird
  • Laughing Kookaburra
  • Sacred Kingfisher
  • Australian Raven
  • Gallah
  • Yellow-rumped Thornbill
  • Superb Fairywren
  • Eastern Yellow Robin
  • White-plumed Honey Eater
  • Grey Shrike-thrush

Have you noticed many more birds than in previous years? Word is that many more birds are appearing up due to the impact of the bushfires...

We'd love you to share your bird list with us.

Not sure what bird that is? Download an Australian bird identification app such as Pizzey & Knight Birds of Australia or Morcombe & Stewart Guide to Birds of Australia to get started on your birding journey!
