Beware Floods!

Posted: 20 July 2021

PAW wishes to remind locals and visitors to stay away from floodwaters during times of high rainfall.

Please stay away from the Kiewa River and Middle Creek (the High Country Rail Trail) during this period of heavy rainfall.

Community volunteers such as the State Emergency Service and Police are busy supporting our regional community.  Please let’s not create any issues by respecting the following flood safety advice:

  • Never walk, ride or drive through floodwater
  • Never allow children to play in floodwater
  • Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains during and after heavy rain
  • Keep well clear of fallen power lines
  • Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks, and heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads.
