Parklands Albury Wodonga is continuing to work on aspects of Project 66, which is a 66 km river trail between West Wodonga and Lake Hume. Recently, we completed a Black Summer Bushfire Recovery-funded Murray River Adventure Trail Art and Accessibility project. There are now ten ‘river ports’ where the community can park and gain pedestrian access to the Murray River and tributaries along much of the Project 66 route.

This Project 66 route is a small part of the much larger Murray River Adventure Trail, which proposes to provide a multi-sport trail all the way from Lake Hume to Mildura. This trail is being developed to encourage greater investment and tourism opportunities along the Murray River.

Murray Regional Tourism is now collecting feedback from the community on the draft trail alignment. This is a chance to identify opportunities or potential challenges along the trail route by adding markers to the interactive map.  Murray Regional Tourism has engaged consultants to develop a Master Plan for the Echuca to Lake Hume section (and other sections) and has met with public land managers.  This Master Plan is a tool to help secure funding to deliver on the larger infrastructure, such as the seven footbridges identified along Project 66.

You can read about the trail and contribute feedback at this link, which is active from 15 July to 2 August. We encourage you to add your thoughts and ideas!
