Since 1998, Parklands have partnered with the Albury Campus and National Environment Centre (NEC) to provide hand-on learning experiences for TAFE students.
Providing students with valuable practical and managerial experience in real-life projects, activities have covered natural resource management, bushland regeneration, landcare, environmental studies and information technology. One of these projects was the development and adoption of the Padman Park Management Plan, creating the blueprint for what is now a much loved West Albury park.
Other significant partnership projects have included:
- Training and certification for Work for the Dole program participants, with practical elements conducted in our regional parklands under the supervision of Parklands Rangers,
- Training and development of the Bhutanese Community Farm on Gateway Island,
- Development of sustainability/environment projects including the In My Back Yard (IMBY) Festival and Eight Mile Creek Parklands.
