Annual Planting Days and much more
Hume Bank staff have rolled up their sleeves on the second Sunday of September year after year to plant trees and shrubs in the Gateway Island regional park.
As the foundation member of Parklands Albury Wodonga’s voluntary Growing Green Offset program, Hume Bank take the opportunity of a mass planting day to offset their annual vehicle carbon emissions, but also to lead by example, showing the community how to become more sustainable.
Parkland’s Growing Green offsets program fits with Hume’s Sustainability Commitment to live responsibly to preserve our environment in consideration for both our current and future generations.
In addition to the annual planting day, our partnership with Hume has included:
- Sponsorship of a water/chemical trailer for improved park management,
- Sponsorship of the Regional Parks map brochure,
- Hume received the 2013 Murray-Riverina Business’s Employer of Choice award. This award recognises organisations that put in place strategies and initiatives to create stimulating and supportive workplace environments for their employees.
“Hume Building Society staff have been bringing their friends and family to the annual Parklands Albury Wodonga Growing Green planting days for ten years. We are starting to see some of these young children as young adults heading off for tertiary studies, with a strong sense of belonging, connection to country and to community because of this hands-on involvement for so many years”.
