With covid restrictions easing, the winter solstice behind us and longer days ahead, we can start to think about getting out and about again. It’s a perfect time for those of us fortunate to have been out of the bushfire zones to plan a trip that will help those communities get back on track.
A couple of online sites will help you do just that:
Road Trip for Good lists itineraries complete with accommodation, places to eat, upcoming events and things to see and do, allows you to create your own itineraries, share with others and download printable references.
Empty Esky is a national movement of foodies and adventurers supporting local businesses affected by the Australian fires. The Empty Esky website and Instagram page encourages people to visit affected areas with an ‘empty esky’ – i.e. supporting retailers and producers by way of people hitting the road and spending money along the way.
And if you’ve got friends or relatives travelling from the capital cities, Budget Direct recently posted an article with 5 road trips to bushfire affected communities you can take to show your support and make the most of a long-weekend getaway.
Time to hit the road!
