Parklands Rangers work alongside a myriad of volunteers and groups throughout the year. Together, we deliver a mountain of environmental work in the region.
At the beginning of March 2020 we had a volunteer Ranger program, park stewardship activities and events scheduled for six days of each week. A ‘lot of people doing a little’ would have delivered significant restoration works in our local parks and reserves. Now, in the interests of the health and wellbeing of our community and our health system, these have all been cancelled and our Lone Rangers are literally, alone.
It is when all these partnerships and long term programs cease that we realize just how generous people in this community have been over the past 20 years. Our Lone Rangers are now faced with significant workloads. Rain means our struggling plants are starting to come back from the brink, but the weeds and grass are also growing…. so much to mow, spray and manage to keep our parks safe and welcoming.
We take this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to all those volunteers who have been our stalwarts for so many years. We miss you and greatly appreciate your contributions.
