Paradise Island Community Stewardship Day

November 25 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Join Parklands Rangers undertaking a variety of practical conservation works on our patch of paradise. Our neighbours call this Paradise Island! 8km of the 9km circuit around this Island, to the east of Gateway Island, was fenced and revegetated a decade ago, providing quality habitat for many native fauna species.

Learn how to remove the invasive plant species threatening this high conservation Murray River island. This is an opportunity to work alongside our Rangers experiencing the ‘how to’ of caring for our local bush. No experience is necessary – our Rangers will help with plant identification and removal techniques.

Take in the fresh air, get close to nature, and learn about the local environment and how our community are working to protect threatened species, improve habitat, and link habitat corridors across the region.

We will be tackling privet, box elder, wild tobacco, and plenty more species. You will become an expert in pest plant identification! These works are in preparation for reafforestation in future years.

When: 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (4 hrs).

Where: Carpool from the corner of Huon Street and Church Street, Wodonga. Please arrive on time as we will leave at 9 am sharp.

What is supplied: All tools and any specific safety equipment needed.

What to bring: BYO drinking water. For your safety, please wear covered shoes (preferably boots), long pants, long sleeves, and a hat.
