An exciting project is afoot to link Gateway Island and Browns Island (to the east of Gateway Island) via pedestrian bridge.
The installation of a footbridge would connect the 15km Gateway Island walking trail to a unique 9km circuit of restored river frontage bushland on Browns Island, opening up stretches of little known wetlands and river frontages on the Project 66 route and bringing the vision of the full 66km Murray River Red Gum Trail one step closer.
Parklands seeks community feedback on the desirability and expected use of this proposed pedestrian access bridge, which would span Flanagan’s Creek as per the below images.
