We are excited to launch a new project to create sensory native gardens, nature play trails and reflection nodes at Leneva Enviro Hub and Wodonga Regional Park over the coming year.
With support from the Suncorp Rebuilding Futures Program, Parklands will work with local early childhood educators, teachers, young people and seniors to design and create both active play and contemplation areas where people of all ages can engage with nature.
Nature play trails will be co-designed with early childhood educators, teachers, and young people. The co-design process will provide opportunities for teaching and learning for local students while ensuring the outcomes are locally relevant. Ultimately, the nature play trails will offer a range of developmental opportunities for children, supporting physical and mental health, social and emotional development, development of all the senses, and overall wellbeing.
Sensory native gardens and reflection nodes will also be incorporated into trail designs, with the aim of providing accessible public environments suitable for all ages and stages of life.
Parklands acknowledge the support of Suncorp, AAMI & Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal for this project. We are extremely grateful to be able to deliver such a positive program in 2024, and look forward to working with our local community on the design process.
