The popularity of our Eastern Hill volunteer mornings indicates how much residents love their local environment. Eastern Hill must have many stories to tell, with its sweeping 360 degree views from the summit and unique position, lovingly looped by the Murray river.
One of those stories is that told by Ann McAuley in our 2017 Hume and Hovell Track Stories series.
The McAuley’s purchased their property at Doctors Point in the first auction of sites there by the Albury Wodonga Development Corporation.
Over the years they transformed it from a farm paddock to a haven for native birds, while Doctors Point grew into a close-knit community. The property now adds significant habitat value to the adjoining environmental lands.
