Ranger Dan Jones loves his wildflowers and is more than happy to take time to show people the fantastic display currently unfolding in the Castle Creek Conservation Reserve.
Last week a group of 16 walkers attended a Walk ‘n Talk organised by the Wodonga Urban Landcare Network and led by Dan. The beautiful spring weather made for a very pleasant walk on the new nature trail and we were treated to a great showing of wildflowers including Leopard orchids and heaths. The orchids seem to have appreciated the season and are even more spectacular than last year.
Native orchids flower so briefly that a difference of a few days may well see a display of a completely different species. Several walks in the reserve are planned for coming weeks to give people the opportunity to glimpse these very special wildflowers. Next walk is this coming Sunday (15th), with Sue Brunskill; 9.30am.
