Parklands Ranger Steve Panozzo has almost completed hand clearing an access track in the Baranduda Regional Park, literally clearing the way for weed spraying this summer.

This is the final farm track to clear to enable more efficient weed management in the park, vital for the return of healthy bush for native species like the Regent Honeyeater.

Steve’s work has not been the only labour intensive effort to ensure our Bush for Birds project stays on track. With the hills still soaked from a third wet season, plants for revegetation had to be wheel-barrowed up through the farm paddock to plant. So too were all the tools and equipment for our human trail clearing machine.

The project involves restoration of 104 hectares of Regent Honeyeater habitat, with a focus on woody weed removal, revegetation with native species, and restoring park infrastructure to enable ongoing management.

This project is delivered by Parklands Albury Wodonga and North East Catchment Management Authority through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.
