In recent years Parklands has worked in partnership with local land managers to increase public access to our local rivers, in particular the Kiewa and Murray rivers.

Pedestrian gates, signage and improved tracks and trails mean that recreational fishers, walkers, runners and riders have more access than ever to our beautiful rivers.

This also means that hunting locally now requires even greater awareness of the tenure of land adjoining rivers and the public access to that land. Hunters can expect local people to be using Albury-Wodonga’s riverside tracks and trails day and night. 

The Game Management Authority’s website has excellent information for hunters and land managers to help prevent any potential issues arising during the duck hunting season. The site set out where hunting is – and is not – permitted, the permissions needed, and any changes to the rules of hunting. For example, the Blue-winged Shoveler (Australasian Shoveler) cannot be hunted for the 2017 duck season.
