Volunteering with organisations like ours is more than just improving the environment. It’s also about doing something for yourself!
A whole range of health and wellbeing benefits have been shown in recent research by Planet Ark. They include mental and physical health improvements for individuals, as well as the benefits to communities of people interacting in a positve way.
Parklands started surveying some of our volunteers 2 months ago to try to “measure” the impact of what we do, with some interesting findings in a mere 6 weeks:
101 people have learnt a new skill by volunteering with us.
164 people feel healthier and happier for having volunteered, and an amazing 21 people have made changes in life or at home as result of volunteering.
The message? Put your hand up to do something good for yourself!
Parklands have a regular volunteer program and are associated with many community stewardship groups who welcome new members – all of whom are volunteers. Check out our Take Action page for plenty of volunteering options.
