As we farewell our tireless volunteer Sheldon Smith from the Parklands volunteer program, Parklands wish him well for the upcoming REDCarpet Awards.
Sheldon is a finalist in two categories: the Individual Community Service Award and the Advocacy and Action Award.
The REDCarpet awards acknowledge the positive contributions of young people making a difference in the local community. A nomination, submission and interview process culminates in a gala dinner on July 29th, where finalists are recognised and the winners announced.
Sheldon has indeed made a difference to our local community. He became involved with Parklands through Scouts projects and has gone on to join our volunteer program. Volunteering with Parklands, Sheldon has participated with a variety of projects restoring and enhancing our local ecosystems and engaging the community. He is a reliable, hardworking volunteer with plenty of enthusiasm and ideas, who loves working with young people in particular. Sheldon’s strengths have not only been noticed by Parklands – he was recently honoured to receive the inaugural Youth of the Year award by the Thurgoona Lions Club.
Thanks for your fantastic contribution here Sheldon, we wish you all the best on your REDCarpet pathway! Further information about the REDCarpet awards can be found at http://www.wodonga.vic.gov.au/community-services/young-people/rca.asp
