Smartair provides a wide range of aviation charter, training and maintenance services anywhere in Australia, with headquarters in Albury and an operations centre in Bathurst.

With a “think global, act local” philosophy, Smartair partnered with Parklands Albury Wodonga to implement a large revegetation project on the Murray River floodplain below Huon Hill Parklands.

The project provided multiple benefits for the business:

• Staff satisfaction: Staff retention is a particularly important issue for smaller employers. Founded 40 years ago, Smartair is still family owned and operated.  A Deloitte Volunteer impact survey in 2011 found that staff who frequently volunteer are more likely to be proud, loyal, and satisfied employees as compared to those who rarely or never volunteer.
• Emissions Offset: Planting trees to offset annual Aviation Gas emissions.
• Building customer relations: For Smartair, customer service is paramount, and working smarter is the key to business success. Smartair saw the opportunity to build staff morale and offset emissions as an opportunity to also engage with customers and suppliers. The planting day involved staff, suppliers and customers. One larger customer also organised a twilight planting session after work in spring to assist with completing this large revegetation project.
