Teams of volunteers working with Parklands rangers have made spectacular inroads into the resurrection of existing bike paths and construction of new on the western side of Coyles Rd, West Wodonga at McFarlanes Hill Parklands.
Thirty hard working Albury High School students constructed 150m of trail, including 5 berms and technical trail features, on 30th March. A further 3 days labour by a team of ten Green Army trainees resurrected 400m of descending trail and cleaned up woody weeds and dead trees around the dam at the bottom. The trail should be completed and rideable from top to bottom next week.
This partnership project with Albury Wodonga Mountainbikers is working towards fulfilling the Parklands Masterplan vision of three new stages of the McFarlanes Hill Mountain Bike Park. Next steps include working on getting the existing trail ready to change direction, and signposting. The existing trail and Swainsona trail will be fully signposted over the next two weeks.
Thank you to financial sponsors, Medibank Community Fund and Healthy Together Wodonga’s Innovation Grants Program, who have contributed towards the heritage plan permits. Without these permits, none of this work could happen.
Happy riding!
