Parklands are proud to be contributing to the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, alongside inspiring community and government efforts across the world.

The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021-2030 “aims to prevent, halt and reverse the degradation of ecosystems on every continent and in every ocean. It can help to end poverty, combat climate change and prevent a mass extinction.”

On-ground Australian projects such as those of our Great Eastern Ranges partners are exemplifying the restoration effort. GER is working with regional partnerships, the International Fund for Animal Welfare, and the Community Environment Network, to roll out Bushfire recovery activities in the NSW North Coast, Blue Mountains, South Coast and Far South Coast, in a large scale effort to help restore country, culture, and community in four heavily bushfire affected landscapes.

Right now, Parklands Landcare Led Bushfire Recovery projects are creating landscape scale wildlife corridors by protecting local natural areas, restoring ecosystems by removing invasive weeds, supporting the work of community led Friends and Landcare groups, and connecting people very directly with nature through our River Stewards and Box Gum Stewardship programs. These projects are supported by the Australian Government’s Bushfire Recovery Program for Wildlife and their Habitat.
