For many years several small but deep floodways have frustrated progress on a potentially magnificent riverside walk on Gateway Island. This beautiful new walking trail is now one step closer with the recent installation of new boardwalk infrastructure.
Parklands is extremely grateful that our planning permit for the Gateway Island boardwalks project was approved a few weeks ago, enabling us to install these boardwalks prior to the arrival of the current flood waters.
Thank you to Bushfire Recovery Victoria for their financial support, SJE Consulting for their technical advice and the Wodonga Men’s Shed for making both physical room and room in their busy calendar to enable these boardwalks frames to be welded together.
We look forward to opening a further section of massive River Red Gum lined nature trail on Gateway Island when these flood waters recede.
