The Wodonga Mens Shed have been busy over the past month fabricating over 300 stanchions (hand rail uprights).  The cutting, welding, grinding, drilling and painting of these stanchions means safe and efficient installation of hand rails on four railway bridges across Gateway Island in the coming months.

Many trailer loads of these prefabricated stanchions have been collected from the Wodonga Mens Shed over the past few weeks. The highly skilled team at the Shed have expertly designed, fabricated and completed this large-scale project.

With thanks to government funding supporting community led recovery initiatives, PAW has employed some highly skilled past volunteers to rope up and install these stanchions.  The dyna-bolting of the first stanchion marked a significant milestone in the project this week.

This project has been made possible thanks to the joint financial contributions of the Victorian Government (Bushfire Recovery Victoria) and the Commonwealth Government (Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangement) for the “Connecting Seniors through delivery of Wodonga Regional Park Infrastructure” project.
