If you’re looking for something to do after the Christmas and New Year break, why not consider coming along to one of our Community Stewardship Mornings? The program, in partnership with Albury City Council, resumes on Thursday 6 February 2025 and runs every Thursday thereafter in various reserves and parks around Albury.
The purpose of these working bee-type mornings is to encourage the local community to contribute to the maintenance and improvement of our local bush by educating and involving people in tasks such as weed removal. It’s all about getting out in nature, learning a thing or two, and making new friends!
Park Stewards are people who give time on a regular or casual basis, depending on what suits them best, so you may choose to come along every week or just every now and then. And don’t worry if you don’t have any prior experience or knowledge! Our Rangers are there to help and guide you in your clean-up efforts. Being out in the fresh air is great for mental well-being and removing invasive species doesn’t just make things look a little nicer, but it gives native plants a chance to flourish which in turn provides food and shelter for native animals. It’s a win-win!
The sessions run from 9 am til 11 am and all the details for the individual events are on our website under Events. We ask that if you’d like to give this a go, please follow the links to register so that we know you’re coming and we can contact you in case things change or there is extreme weather. These sessions are suitable for people of medium fitness who are able to traverse uneven/sloping ground.
Thank you to Albury City Council for the financial support for this program.
