Participants in our school holiday Spotlighting Night walk at the Waterworks last week were pleasantly introduced to the work of the NDIS disability supported employment team who have been regularly mowing and cleaning up around Waterworks Regional Park in recent months.

With regular mowing and maintenance delineating the recreational and habitat restoration zones, the park is looking much brighter and well cared for, while also offering a broader experience of nature for the community. The ongoing maintenance of the public areas is a three-year pilot that has been kindly sponsored by the Rotary Club of Albury Foundation.

The Waterworks is one of ten sites along the Project 66 route where “river ports” will be enhanced this year. Providing safer access and landing points for river craft, these “ports” have been kick-started by a Black Summer Bushfire Recovery grant, with thanks to the Australian Government.

The river port project is part of Project 66, connecting the Murray River Red Gum Trail from Albury to Lake Hume. Please contact us if you or your organisation wishes to partner with the Project 66 Committee in the enhancement and maintenance of any of these ten river ports.
