Participants are coming back for more of our popular Walk ‘n Talk series this year, as leaders Karen Retra and Sue Brunskill share their extensive knowledge of Australian nature during monthly walks on some of the lesser known riverside trails.
The community event series takes people out on trails beside the Murray river and Wodonga creek on the western side of Gateway Island and out at the Waterworks in Albury, as well as Kiewa river trails at Killara and Baranduda.
The emphasis is more on the ‘Talk’ than the ‘Walk’ though – most walks being less than 2km with many stops along the way to investigate the habitat, vegetation, wildlife and other features more closely.
Sue Brunskill has a wealth of knowledge of native plants and local ecosystems to share, while Karen Retra’s knowledge of how to find particularly special local species and the many different ways to record personal experiences with nature is inspirational.
With school holidays coming up, we have added spotlighting experiences with Ranger Dan to the program, offering families a chance to see the natural nightlife and learn more about how we manage regional parks to help these shy nocturnal species to thrive.
These walks are free and all are welcome – please register here to receive directions to the walk locations.
Parklands Albury Wodonga acknowledges the support of the Victorian Government and the Ross Trust for this program.
