Parklands Albury Wodonga seeks your input on community access to waterfront crown reserves on the Murray River and tributaries.

Parklands manages 60 continuous kilometres of crown reserve on the Victorian side of the Murray river between West Wodonga, Gateway Island and Lake Hume.

 

Some sections are managed as agricultural land (through grazing licenses issued to private landholders) and other sections are managed as regional parks.

Over the past 20 years, significant areas of the crown water frontage have been revegetated and restored to create habitat corridors for native wildlife, protect the riverine environment, improve water quality in the Murray river and provide recreational access for the community. This restoration work is ongoing.

Pedestrian access to crown water frontage is legislated by the Victorian government under the Crown Land (Reserves) Act 1978.
 
In line with evolving community expectations, the Board of Parklands is reviewing our strategic plan and are seeking your input on how these water frontages are to be managed. Community feedback regarding the siting and type of river access points, the length and standards of recreational trails, and maintaining biosecurity standards is important to this process.
