In the weeks of lockdown, Parklands staff have been working with local partners developing projects to ensure we can collectively say ‘Yes’ to expected economic stimulus support in the pipeline.
Along with Environmental and Landcare organisations from across the state, Parklands have contributed a list of significant local projects to the Working for Victoria submission put to the state government, which propose a large scale, labour-intensive economic recovery program.
To be prepared with ‘shovel-ready’ projects takes a bit of planning, especially under these circumstances when flexibility is key. Thankfully we have incredible support available on the ‘people power’ side, with local individuals and organisations keen to jump in when the opportunities arise.
Projects in planning focus on restoration of the natural corridors of the Murray and Kiewa Rivers, restoration and enhancement in the natural areas and linking corridors of Albury Wodonga hills, and works further afield in the High Country Rail Trail corridor.
