This week locals were treated to a guided walk in the little known bush park on Klinges Hill.

The ‘Waterfall Walk’ took us along a dirt access track, across a paddock and in through maturing native plantings lining an ephemeral waterway, planted as development offset vegetation. We followed this gully upwards to a steep rocky face where water trickles across the granite.  Not quite a waterfall, we could see where the water flows after rain. Perhaps a day later we would have actually seen a waterfall!

Parklands ranger Danny Jones was a font of information on the conservation aspects of the reserve – first created by the Albury Wodonga Development Coorporation. Community members along for the walk also contributed their knowledge of the history of the area pre AWDC as farming land. A Wedge-tailed eagle soared above, harrassed by crows and magpies, and we spotted the eagle’s nest high in a tree on the steep slope.

Altogether a fascinating and enjoyable insight into Parklands and Council’s conservation efforts happening in our hill reserves.
