Spotlighting walks were held this week exploring the wild nightlife of Gateway Island and Stringybark Reserve at Baranduda.

Led by Ranger Dan Jones, the walks attracted the young, the young at heart and – particularly on a very cold Wednesday evening – the hardy. Nearly 60 people attended over two nights, braving the cold and enjoying the rewards of exploring in the dark.

Ringtail possums featured at Baranduda, while Brushtails starred on the Gateway Island trail. Roosting birds were spotted on both trails and a close encounter with a glider was a very exciting  highlight of  the Stringybark walk.

Thanks Claire for opening up the SAC on Gateway Island for us, and thanks to all of those who attended for your enthusiasm and interest.

More spotlighting walks are coming up – please keep an eye out on our Facebook page.
