Thanks to an inspired partnership between community and cross-border Councils, the Gateway Island Tree Top Trail is one important step closer to reality.
Bridge handrails have been approved for installation on a total of 620 meteres of the trail, providing a safe connection to the Gateway Island nature trail.
A great demonstration of sustainable co-operative action, the project has received financial support from Border Trust and City of Wodonga. Fencing materials – in fact part of the Albury Botanic Gardens former perimeter fence – have been donated by Albury City Council. Engineering certification has been delivered at cost by SJE Consulting, enabling the fabrication of new handrails from the ex-fence steel. The handrails will be fabricated and installed by Parklands Rangers working with community volunteers.
Many thanks to our partner organisations for your contributions to this project. We look forward to commencing work on the new handrails!
