Woomargama National Park protects some of the highly diverse forest and woodland communities forming an almost continuous belt of vegetation between south-east NSW and northern Victoria. It is the largest protected area of forest west of the Great Dividing Range.
In her time living in the area, Landcare Coordinator Judy Kirk joined with locals Sandy and Danny O’Flanagan and Ranger Dave Pearce to form a Friends group supporting the Park. Judy took us for a stroll in the Park and talked us through some of the great work the group has done, including helping bring back the population of the rare Acacia Phasmoides and creating a memorial loop walk off the Hume and Hovell Track.
Parklands gratefully acknowledge the support of the NSW Government, through the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage and the Heritage Council NSW, to make these Hume and Hovell Track stories.
