Parklands are delivering four nestbox projects next year that will really make a difference within regional habitats.
The beneficiaries will be native species including parrots, kookaburras, owls and gliders, not to mention we fortunate human residents who can observe these species returning to places they have not been able to find homes in for many years!
Nestboxes will be built and installed in areas lacking in the natural tree hollows native birds and animals need to make nests and breed. Project sites include Bandiana, West Wodonga, Woomaragama and the Hume and Hovell corridor.
These projects extend the habitat gains made through past projects, including surveys of large hollow bearing trees throughout the Albury Environmental Lands and construction, installation and monitoring of over 600 nestboxes in Albury Wodonga from Table Top to Baranduda.
Our thanks to the students at Wodonga South Primary School, the NSW Environment Trust, the Department of Land, Water and Planning (Vic) and Murray Local Land Services (NSW) for funding these vital ‘housing’ projects for our furred and feathered neighbours. Anyone interested in being involved is most welcome – please contact Anthea at info@parklands-alburywodonga.org.au
