Despite predicted gale force winds, rain and hail, local families were keen to get involved in National Tree Day events around Albury and Wodonga last Sunday.
Friends of Padman/Mates Park held their 15th annual planting event in the park, with Parklands rangers assisting an enthusiastic team of local families to plant trees near the Kremur St Boat Ramp.
In Wodonga, Baranduda Landcare group hosted their 16th Planet Ark Tree Day planting, with 50 volunteers planting along Middle Creek. Parklands rangers and the Green Army team followed up this planting during the week to complete the site, with well over 2000 plants now in the ground and guarded.
Friends of Willow Park also celebrated all aspects of trees with a veritable feast of information, stalls and activities including workshops for children and adults, yoga in the park, demonstrations by local woodworkers and of course a planting in the park along House Creek.
