Parklands partner Wodonga Urban Landcare Network is co-ordinating a concentrated effort to understand the community’s views on the future of the creeks within the Wodonga municipality.
The Network has received funds from the Department of Environment, Land,Water and Planning to research the values the community places on different aspects of Wodonga’s urban waterways, the issues people feel need to be addressed, and the vision of the community for these waterways as Wodonga continues to grow into the future.
The creeks under scrutiny are House, Huon, Jack-in-the-Box, Felltimber, Middle, and Castle creeks, and the lower reaches of the Kiewa River at Killara.
Local Friends and Landcare groups work alongside Parklands to maintain and improve these creeks, and seek the guidance this research will bring for future projects and areas to focus on. The coming weeks will bring a range of opportunities for community members to contribute views and help to create a vision for all to work towards. These include
